When were Porch Columns invented?

History tells us that the invention of columns dates all the way back to ancient civilizations such as the near east, and then followed by the Egyptians around 2600 B.C. It was not until the Greeks in the 6th century B.C., that started creating superb architectural columns. One of the characteristics of the ancient Greeks were that they strove for excellence and precision.
